Search Engine Optimisation: How Accurate are Keyword Tools?

In search engine optimisation, it is a crucial element to select the right keywords when optimising a website. The obvious reason being, if you have keywords with no search volume, you will not receive any traffic. Secondly, if you have keywords that are too competitive, you will find it very difficult (almost impossible) to win high ranks. So how do we find the in between balance for both obstacles? This is where keyword tools would come into place, but how accurate are they?

To start, the main keyword research tools that are found on the market today are Wordtracker, Overture Keyword Tool and Trellian Keyword Discovery. Now I bet many of you are pulling your hair out over which keywords are going to be suitable for optimisation. What makes it probably even more stressful is the varying results between the three different keyword tools i.e. one keyword tool may show a particular keyword to be very good, while another tool may suggest a whole different result for the same keyword. Well stop stressing right now! The truth is that we donâ??t really know how accurate these keyword tools are and we should only use their search volume figures as an indication as to whether a keyword is popular amongst search engine users.

Letâ??s say a keyword phrase, â??dog productsâ?, has a search volume of 5,000 searches per month on the Overture Keyword Tool. To make an assumption that â??dog productsâ? is a good keyword for optimisation, based ONLY on the Overture figure, would be a very bad assumption. However, it gives us a rough idea of the search volume for that particular keyword. The next step would be to use Wordtracker or Keyword Discovery to see if a similar amount of search volume is present for â??dog productsâ? (remember to convert searches for each tool to a common time frame i.e. monthly or daily). If we have a very low search volume in BOTH Wordtracker and Keyword Discovery, then I would be very skeptical about using â??dog productsâ? for optimisation. The whole idea is to get at least two of the three keyword tools to reflect reasonable / high search volumes before considering that keyword to be suitable for optimisation. If you have all three keyword tools returning reasonable / high search volumes for â??dog productsâ?, then the chances are that this keyword is reasonable / high in search volume and definitely worth considering for optimisation.

Once a good set of keywords have been agreed upon through the use of the keyword tools, you should then focus on the keywords that have a low / reasonable amount of competing web pages. There is no point trying to compete for a keyword that has 1,000,000 web pages in competition for it. If you are good at SEO then you could achieve high ranks for that keyword, but it would require a lot of time and investment which could be spent on better things. The lower the competition is, then the more chance of achieving higher ranks.

To recap, there is no indication to say that keyword tools are 100% accurate. Whilst the reseller of the tool may suggest otherwise, I highly doubt it. The results should be taken like a â??grain of saltâ? as they are only useful to give you an idea as to what the search volume might be like for a particular keyword (high, moderate or low). With each tool obtaining its results using different algorithms, in some cases their results will not support each other. Provided you use two of the keyword tools to investigate the search volume for keywords, you should be able to make a good decision as to whether a keyword might be worth optimising for. With that in mind, it would also be wise to use your common sense to determine if a keyword is one that YOU would actually use in a search. Otherwise, what would be the point of optimisation in the first place?

Google AdWords - Proven Strategies To Get 7% Click Through Rates

There are two factors how click through rates or CTR calculated. First factor is impression and the second one is the click itself.

Let’s take a look the first one, impression. Unless you start your campaign using site targeted ads, the only way to get impression is through keywords that you choose. The more keywords you have, the more impression you will get. That’s the key. But the question is which keywords can brings you visitors, effectively?

AdWords has three different types of keyword, they are broad match, phrase match and exact match keywords. You won’t have any chance to get 7% CTR using broad match keywords, because you will get thousands of impression but your click is very low. In result, you will have 0.1 - 0.5% CTR. Even it’s almost impossible for you to get 1% CTR using broad match keywords.

Phrase match and exact match keywords much more targeted. The impression of your campaign won’t be as much as broad keywords have. I prefer to use exact keywords rather than phrase keywords. I will use phrase keywords only when the impression of exact keywords is too low.

The second factor is the click itself. In order for people to click your ads, your ads must be able to grab their attention. Otherwise, you will get impression but no one will click your ads.

There are three ways for you to get people attention:

  1. Ask a question on your headline. For example if you sell anti-spam software, you can write this question on your headline ‘Tired of Fighting Spam?’ or ‘Got Spam Everyday?’ Please note, your question must be match with keywords you choose.
  2. Use hype words in your ads. If your ad is boring and filled with non emotive words, it won’t persuade your prospects to take action. Use hype words to compel action, for examples: ‘discover’, ‘amazing’ and ‘revealed’.
  3. Insert keyword on your ads. The reason why you should do this is AdWords will bold every words that match with keywords used to search. So if your ad contain this word, you will get more exposure.

Productive SEO - 4 Keys to Create More Money In SEO

Search engine optimization is the greatest source of online traffic. As such, all webmasters are trying all their might to optimize their site so they will be rank higher by search engines. When they make it on the top 10 of search result pages, they are assured of improved traffic and increased in revenue.

Here are the 4 keys to create more money in SEO:

1. Use relevant keywords on your content. Insert keywords on your title tags so search engine spiders will analyze the content of your pages. This will greatly help in improving your chances of attracting more visitors through search engines. In addition, you need to use these same keywords as anchor texts when linking your pages. Lastly, sprinkle relevant keywords on your content particularly on your titles and sub titles.

2. Link building. Build links with websites that share your topics. You can do that through reciprocal and one way link campaigns. Just make sure that the websites you are going to link to have higher page ranking and established following. Also, avoid link farming, this is an unethical way of popularizing your website and you can get penalized by Google for it.

3. Describe your images using Alt Tag. Google allows online users to search photos using image search. To make your images highly visible, give them accurate description using Alt Tag. This could generate more traffic for you as more and more users are now looking for images aside from text contents.

4. Submit your website to search engines. There is no better way to get your website indexed by search engines than directly submitting it to them. To make sure that your submission will not be rejected, read their terms and conditions and abide by them at all costs.

Need Help With AdSense? This Is All The Help You Need To Start Making Serious Cash With AdSense

Need Help With AdSense?

Do you need help learning how to begin with AdSense? Well, there is only one way to begin and that is with the creation of a website. The website should deal with complete, factual and informative literature surrounding only one main theme. This will help to not detract from the subject matter or the advertising that AdSense will put on your site. This will also help integrate the ads with the topic of your website.

You will then go to www.google.com, open an account, and download AdSense. Pretty much, after that it’s an issue of simply clicking on the right answers.

Now, I think the biggest help you can get with AdSense would be what not to do. If you do a search, you can find a lot of what to do, but this is something you should be aware of from the beginning. It will help you more with AdSense that you will ever know.

The biggest mistake most people make is lying to Google. Don’t do it, you will be found out and they will keep all the cash you may feel you have earned. You haven’t earned it, though. Read your terms and conditions. It’s right there in black and white. That is the biggest help trick to AdSense there is.

The second biggest thing you need to think about, don’t try to change anything you are not authorized to change! If you hack in and make a mess of things, not only will you lose your website, you will be criminally charged! This is not an AdSense help topic; this is the law.

Do me a favor and remember that just like in radio and television, two automobile ads for two competitors running back to back is poor form. Try not to run the same type of advertisement on the same page. In particular a Google ad with a competitor (Yahoo, etc.) is very, very naughty.

It screams fraud if you should click on an advertiser from your own website. You will have advertising yanked out from under your feet for fraud, so just help yourself and remember to do the search for the product if you really want to check it out. Or benefit somebody else’s website by clicking through to the product. They will appreciate it and you won’t look like a criminal.

And lastly, remember that Google has a prohibited advertising list. Learn it, memorize it, and don’t get caught advertising anything on it. Just make sure it’s a legal, family-friendly site and you won’t run into any problems. AdSense won’t help you remember this; you have to do this on your own. Do a little more research, look around; I am sure you can create a great site. Good luck!
